Ancestry in the fields

By  Sophia Mojica-Luiz

I grew up in the sticks
Alongside my sisters
We tread through the fields
Where my ancestors reside
We stood above the lake
In front of mom’s old house
And I stared at my reflection
Right into my mother’s eyes
