Gone

By Nevaeh Phillips

If I could erase me from your mind I would.
Get rid of my tear stained face and my faltering voice that you’ve had to hear too many times.
It would be easier this way, I tell myself.
You tell me otherwise, I wish I could believe you.
But if I wasn’t here you wouldn’t have to console me when my emotions look like a wildfire,
and when all of the neighbours can hear me sobbing.
I ask you why you love me and you said you knew that you would from the start.
I wished I loved myself from the start too.
